I always like to look at the BCBG Max Azria runway fashion shows because Max Azria is one of only a few top American designers who offer a line of clothing for petites in addition to his BCBG clothing in regular sizes.

Spring 2012 is looking very geometric at BCBG. With an Art Deco feeling to the clothing, it's all about precise rectangles, which may be vertical or diagonal, both of which can be very flattering for the petite woman. Drop waists on some of the dresses, such as the one pictured above, add to the Art Deco feel of the collection.

The sharp angles are softened by the light and airy chiffon fabric of the dresses.

Carrying forward the fall trend for longer skirts, most of the hemlines fall below the knee.

The BCBG color palette for spring 2012 includes lots of lights, sometimes punctuated with bright yellow, orange, or a pop of red as well as turquoise and sea blue.
