Royal blue was the color of the day when Queen Elizabeth II kicked off four days of Diamond Jubilee celebrations marking her sixtieth year as a reigning monarch. Queen Elizabeth was coronated
in June 1953 although she officially took over the royal duties of the monarch following the death of her father in February 1952.
For her appearance at Epsom Downs, Queen Elizabeth wore a white silk dress with a blue floral design by Stewart Parvin, a London designer who specializes in couture and bridal fashion. The queen wore a royal blue coat over the dress and accessorized the coat with a diamond brooch. Her royal blue hat was designed by Rachel Trevor-Morgan, an award-winning British milliner with a shop in London.
