Do petites have fitting problems with accessories?

By Paula Darnell, About.com

Question: Do petites have fitting problems with accessories?
Answer: Short women who wear petite sizes in clothing frequently have small feet and hands. Their wrists and ankles may also be smaller than average. Because many retailers carry most of their stock in average sizes, finding shoes, gloves, rings, and bracelets that fit properly can be a problem.

The solution? If you're looking for shoes in sizes 5, 5.5, and even smaller, seek out brands that fit you well and then look for specialty retailers that sell your favorite brands in extended size ranges.

Having tiny hands means having a small ring size too. Your local jeweler can resize your fine, precious rings so that they won't slip off your ring finger. Wear less expensive costume rings on your middle or index finger, or purchase a ring guard that fits inside the ring. Stretch bracelets may fit, or buy custom bracelets from small jewelry makers, who are willing to make a bracelet in any length.

Try stretchy knit gloves for winter wear. Or shop the children's department for small gloves.
