My Favorite Evening Bag
It's difficult to pick a favorite evening bag because I collect vintage evening bags, and I love them all, but here's one that's really special. It's a beaded bag, which can be carried as a clutch or dangling from the short snake chain handle. The beaded bag was made in France, and it's lined with black silk fabric. There's a label inside--Saks Fifth Avenue--the department store that sold the bag exclusively, probably during the 1950s.
Why It's My Favorite
I love that the bag is beaded all over, and the contrast between the pastel flowers and the black background is great, but what's best about this bag is the fabulous beading on the frame with the centered Limoges figural decoration, and the Limoges pull.
Advice
- If you buy a vintage purse, look for one that's in excellent condition.
- Carrying a vintage evening bag is a great way to make a fashion statement at a party because you'll be the only one carrying such a unique purse.
